Allen Michel’s amicus brief sways Court of Appeal in attorney disqualification case
Allen L. Michel’s successful pro bono work for an organization of over 1,000 attorneys is reflected in an order certifying Beachcomber Management Crystal Cove, LLC, et al. v. Superior Court (2017) ___ Cal.App.4th ___ for publication. The Association of Southern California Defense Counsel sought publication of the opinion in that case because it clarified how to resolve attorney disqualification issues in corporate shareholder disputes. Allen’s amicus curiae (“friend of the court”) request was granted on July 28, 2017. As a result, other lawyers and courts may now cite Beachcomber as part of the decisional law of California. Allen is a member of an ASCDC subcommittee that evaluates and analyzes appellate decisions affecting California practitioners.
